AI for Marketers: Automate Your Social Media

Stop staring at a blank content calendar. You can use AI as a powerful assistant to streamline your entire social media workflow, from brainstorming to scheduling. Here’s how.

Step 1: Brainstorm Content Pillars

First, define the main topics you want to talk about. These are your content pillars. Feed them to an AI and ask it to generate a month’s worth of specific post ideas.

Act as a content strategist. My company sells eco-friendly coffee beans. Our content pillars are sustainability, coffee brewing techniques, and highlighting our partner farms. Generate 15 social media post ideas based on these pillars.

Step 2: Draft Captions in Batches

Once you have your ideas, use the AI to write the captions. You can do this in batches to save time. Provide the AI with a clear voice and tone guide.

Using the previous list of ideas, write a caption for the post idea: 'How to make the perfect pour-over coffee'. The tone should be helpful, friendly, and slightly nerdy. Include a call-to-action to check out our latest single-origin beans.

Step 3: Generate or Suggest Visuals

Many AI tools can now generate images or suggest stock photos that match your content. Describe the visual you need based on the caption.

Create a high-quality, photorealistic image of a person making pour-over coffee in a bright, modern kitchen. The mood should be calm and focused.

Step 4: Schedule and Analyze

Use a social media scheduling tool (many have AI features built-in) to plan your posts. After a week, you can even ask an AI to analyze the engagement data and suggest what worked best.

Analyze the following engagement data for my last 10 Instagram posts. Identify which content pillar (sustainability, brewing tips, or new products) performed best and suggest three new post ideas based on that data.
